Thomas M. Fansler Jr.

Chairman/ CEO, Project Manager

Tom Jr has been at Smock since the mid 60’s and purchased the company in 1967.  Since that time, he has grown the company from a small trucking and excavating subcontractor to a full service general contractor, providing a more comprehensive scope of services.  Tom Jr continues to tend to daily business operations as well as his project estimation and management load.
In his spare time, Tom Jr is active in a number of community organizations, including Indianapolis Municipal Band (he plays the tuba!), Speedway Lions Club, Christian Businessmen Connection, and Speedway Community Development Corporation.  Tom and his wife Nancy are very active members of Speedway United Methodist Church.  They have been married for over 50 years and have 3 sons, a daughter, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Tom Jr’s notable recent projects include IPL ductbanks and vault reconstructions throughout downtown Indianapolis and the demolition and erection of a new feed room at Quemetco.
Thomas M. Fansler III

President, Project Manager

Tom III grew up working summers for SFC.  Starting as a laborer and working his way up through the years has given Tom a thorough understanding of the construction process and all the key roles involved in making a successful project.  Tom’s artistic tendencies and meticulous attention to detail have served him well as he consults with owners and design professionals on design development, scheduling, constructability, and cost analysis on a wide range of projects.  Tom III is married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.  In his spare time, Tom enjoys scuba diving, vacationing in tropical locations, and spending time in or near the pool.

Tom III’s notable projects include the Glick Peacewalk, Indiana Landmarks Hardscape, and the Taltree Railway Garden.

Jerry M. Davee, P. E.

Executive Vice President – Industrial Construction, Project Manager

Jerry joined SFC in September 1986 and has over 50 years of experience after earning a BSCE and MSCE from Purdue.  He covers a broad range of projects mainly for commercial/industrial clients including new/pre-engineered buildings, steel mill/vehicle production lines, mass foundations and shoring, mass utility projects, and office/plant remodels.  He and his wife have been married for over 50 years, have 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.  In his spare time, Jerry enjoys travelling, gardening, and singing in his church choir.

Jerry's recent projects include chilled water lines for Citizens Thermal Energy, and Ash Pond maintenance for IPL.  


David Fansler

Vice President – Operations, Field Superintendent Coordinator

David Fansler has been employed in various phases of construction with Smock Fansler Corporation since graduation from Speedway High School in 1981.  He has increased his responsibilities from yard laborer to Project Superintendent with excellent management and leadership qualities.  He is experienced on both sitework and general construction projects with special attention to the uniqueness required of park projects of the high visual profile of working with and around the public and especially children.

David is married with 2 children, a grandson and a granddaughter.  In his spare time, David enjoys boating, fishing, and travelling (to Florida to boat and fish!).

David’s notable projects include the restoration of the Sunken Gardens and Conservatory at Garfield Park, the Holliday Park Trail System improvements, and the construction of the Aquatic Center at Garfield Park.  

William Fansler

Vice President – Architectural Sitework, Project Manager

Bill Fansler has been employed in various phases of construction with Smock Fansler Corporation since he worked through summers while he was in college, earning his BS in Physics from Purdue.  He has increased his responsibilities from laborer to Project Manager with excellent management and leadership qualities.  He is experienced on both sitework and general construction projects with special attention to hardscape projects with high end finishes and tight schedules. 
Bill is married and has a son.
Bill’s notable projects include the Georgia Street Pavers, the JW Marriott Art Plaza, and the Castleton Mall Hardscape. 

Joe Davee

Vice President – Quality Control, Project Manager

Joe joined Smock Fansler in 1993 working as a laborer over summer breaks while earning his BS in Building Construction Management at Purdue University.  His work covers a broad range of commercial, industrial, and public works projects, particularly parks & rec, monuments/memorials, custom art installations, and architectural hardscapes/streetscapes.  In his spare time, Joe enjoys Legos, gaming, going to the movies, playing bluegrass music, and making continuous improvements to the historic home he lives in with his wife, daughter, and son. 

Joe’s notable projects include the Carmel City Center Streetscape and Hardscape, Simon Corporate HQ Hardscape and water feature, and White River State Park and Greenspaces / Riverfront Development. 

Jhennifer Sanchez, LEED AP BD+C

Director of Design & Sustainability

Jhennifer has been at SFC since 2007, having graduated from Purdue with a degree in Computer Graphics Technology.  She earned her LEED Accredited Professional designation in 2008 and opted into the LEED AP BD+C program in 2011.  Jhennifer works closely with Tom III in Client Services, Business Development, and Design Assist. 
In her spare time, Jhennifer enjoys watching a baseball game, volunteering in the community, and playing Monopoly with her husband and daughter.  She is an active Girl Scout Leader, softball Team Mom, and PTO Chairperson.  
Jhennifer’s notable projects include LEED Documentation for SFC’s portion of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s HQ and project lead in the redevelopment of this website. 

George Fernandez


George joined SFC in September 2006 and has over 25 years of experience after earning a dual bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from California State University at Northridge.  He manages financial operations, accounting and information technology.  He is married and has six children.  In his spare time, George enjoys bowling, softball, travelling, concerts and attending sporting events.

Joe Hannold

Dispatch / Purchasing

Joe has been with SFC since September of 1984. He handles the purchasing and dispatch for the field supervisors and office. You can usually catch him at his desk, on the phone or radio. Joe has been married to his wife, Sally, for over 35 years and they have three grown children: Staci, Jenny, and Brian, and two grandchildren: Seana and Dawson. Joe keeps busy maintaining the five cars in the family.

Dia Donoho

Project Assistant

Dia first joined SFC in 2004 and utilizes her over 15 years of construction background in the day to day operations to assist the project management and estimating departments.

Melissa has been with SFC since winter 2006. She is married to her husband Richie, and has two children: son, Travis, who proudly serves our country in the US Air Force, and daughter Emily. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys landscaping, walking, and crafting.

Tina Fudger

Accounts Payable

Tina began working at SFC in early 2007 after relocating to Greenwood from California. She is a proud parent of 5 children: Stephanie, Tyler, Tiffany, and twins Geoffrey & Tara. Tina enjoys reading, bowling, camping, puzzles and going to concerts.
