The charm and vibrant urban activity of the piazzas and streetscapes of Europe were the inspiration for
the transformation of a 19th century rural town in Indiana into a contemporary place where the
community can dine, shop, work, live, and play.
The challenge in this project was creating a unique and unified hardscape over 2 acres using complex
paver designs. 7 colors of clay pavers were used in various size and shape combinations to create 42
unique paver elements in a multitude of decorative as well as functional patterns. Not only do the
pavers form intricate patterns in many of the plazas and fountain areas, they also delineate street
markings for traffic and parking. Everything from turn arrows to handicap parking symbols to parking
stalls were created using brick paver elements to maintain the site’s color and material pallet.
The streetscape areas along City Center Drive and Rangeline Road also make extensive use of clay and
concrete paver walk surfaces blended seamlessly into lush planting beds, flowing ramps and retaining
walls and outdoor dining patios all accented with custom fabricated decorative metal railing and formal
site lighting.
